Wright Middle School Parent Involvement Policy
2008 – 2009
Wright Middle School will strengthen its home-school-community partnership that will continue to ensure a safe, student oriented learning environment such that student achievement and school climate will prosper. To achieve these goals Wright Middle School will do the following:
1. Provide parents with copies of the policy, and discuss this policy with our parents.
2. Provide progress reports. Students are encouraged to use a three
ring binder with dividers along with their student agenda to strength their organizational skills and well as being assured that they will have the
needed materials for each class. Also, having all assignments will assist
them in their study and grading process. Through the use of conferences, telephone calls, and home visits, we will encourage parents to work
effectively with their children.
3. Inform and invite parents to participate in discussions on school policy, curriculum, and other procedures at parent meeting and school events.
4. Highlight School Wide Projects, Parent Center, school volunteers, the school
calendar, increase parent involvement, and other communications in our newsletter.
5. To involve parents in an annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the program surveys will be sent home. Parent concerns, suggestions, and questions will be addressed in school newspaper, direct contact, and in program modifications.
6. Encourage parents to become more active participants, by volunteering, assisting with special projects, workshops, field trips, meetings, counseling (parents and children), conferences, and other activities.
7. Help parents design, plan, and become actively involved in the development of a parent involvement policy.
8. Address topics such as homework, behavior management, TCAP, Gateway, conflict management, alternative teaching strategies, discipline, and other topics that will help us to meet the needs of their children.
